Earthquakes in your area - Week 8

This week we were asked to look at the earthquake history in the region where we live. Google Earth was used with a KMZ file - which is updated every 15 minutes - to show us real time data of earthquakes in the last 30 days. To be honest I thought there were be a lot more! I just thought there were mini tiny earthquakes that happened all the time, but according to this, that thought is not so.

On the map we can see that there were no earthquakes in Northern Utah, but there were some Idaho. These were all very close to the service of the earth (only about 0 -33 KM deep). Some of the earthquakes had a larger magnitude than others and for the most part they were under 4.

It is interesting to see how many earthquakes happen in the last 30 days alone in the world. I still feel pretty safe here in Utah and if an earthquake hits there will be help.
