I live near the Great Salt Lake and as we can tell by its name, there is a lot of salt that can be found here. There are multiple rivers running into the lake and there is about, "two millions tons" brought into the lake each year. In the pictures below you can see that water from the Great Salt Lake being pumped into another location to help it evaporate faster, thus being able to collect the minerals faster.
It is interesting to me that all these minerals are collected here and that we can harvest them. Here are some interesting facts:
Smell: Oder-less
Taste: Salty
Shape: Usually cubes
Hardness is 2.5 (Though I would not know how to measure this)
Melts at over 801 Celsius.
Color: Usually white, but can have other impurities in it which will change the color.
